POLICIES
PRIVACY POLICY:
Sylvania Area Family Services (SAFS) respects the privacy of visitors to its website, donors, and supporters. If you have further questions about how SAFS protects your privacy, we can be reached via email at dottie@sa-fs.org or via phone at 419-882-8415.

We know you care how information regarding you is shared and used, and we are grateful for your trust that we will do so cautiously and sensibly. This Privacy Policy governs the collection and use of information from this website, as well as information collected through our mail, email, and text (SMS/MMS) communications with you.
By visiting SAFS (sylvaniaareafamilyservices.org), we utilize, and by opting in to receive communications from us, you accept the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
Types of Information We Collect
There are two types of information we collect:
-
Personal or donor information you knowingly choose to disclose that is collected on an individual basis, and
-
We use information collected on an aggregate basis as you and others browse our website.
Personal or Donor Information: When you donate or register at sylvaniaareafamilyservices.org or give us information in any other way (including offline donations), we collect and store the information you provide. This may include your name, email address, mailing address, phone number, payment information, and donation history. SAFS will not sell, rent, trade, or share your personal or donor information (except to those who may be raising funds for SAFS) nor send mailings on behalf of other organizations. We use the information that you present for such purposes as communicating with you and responding to your requests. To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the proper use of information, we have implemented appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard the information we collect, both on-site and online.
Website Use Information: We use technologies such as cookies and pixel tags to automatically aggregate and store certain types of information whenever you interact with sylvaniaareafamilyservices.org, including IP addresses, browser types, device, mobile carrier, country, visit duration, browsing history, and other such information. This information does not identify you personally, but helps us improve our site and services.
Sharing of Information
As stated above, SAFS will not sell, rent, or trade your personal or donor information. We may share limited information with trusted service providers who perform functions on our behalf—such as payment processors, email and text messaging platforms, and analytics providers—only as necessary for them to perform those functions. These service providers are not permitted to use your information for their own marketing purposes. We may also disclose information when required by law.
Managing Your Communication Preferences
You may choose at any time to receive specific communications or opt out of receiving communications from us at all. For your convenience, you may update your contact information previously provided to us if you have created a user account on sylvaniaareafamilyservices.org. If you would like to opt out of receiving communications from us, please email your request to dottie@sa-fs.org. Because fundraising operations are often planned well in advance, changes to your communication preferences may take up to 6 weeks to be accurately reflected.
If you have opted in to receive text messages (SMS/MMS) from SAFS, you may opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message you receive from us. Message and data rates from your wireless carrier may apply. We do not share mobile phone numbers or text messaging consent with any third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
Cookies
When you visit sylvaniaareafamilyservices.org, like many websites, we send one or more cookies – a small file containing a string of characters – to your computer that uniquely identifies your browser. Cookies do not contain personally identifiable information, yet allow you to take full advantage of some of the website's features, and we recommend that you leave them turned on. We use cookies to record past activity to provide better service when you return to our site. However, if you feel it is necessary, the Help portion of the toolbar on most browsers will tell you how to prevent your browser from accepting new cookies, how to have the browser notify you when you receive a new cookie, or how to turn off cookies altogether.
How We Protect Your Information
For various services that require online transmission or contain private information, SAFS uses the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption protocol to safeguard your sensitive personal information when donating. Information is encrypted as it travels from your computer to the SAFS server processing your request. Donations are processed through a secure third-party payment processor; SAFS does not store full payment card numbers on our own systems. When finished with applications that require the input of your personal information, it is always recommended that you close or otherwise exit all instances of your browser.
Risks Inherent in Sharing Information
The protection of your information is a very high priority for SAFS. We take reasonable steps to maintain the security of the information you provide to us, but please be aware that no security measures are perfect or impenetrable. We cannot control the actions of other users with whom you share your information, and we are not responsible for third-party circumvention of any privacy settings or security measures.
